Our final leader for this "Countdown to Conference" is our dear prophet, Thomas S. Monson. What is a prophet? President Tuttle once said, "A prophet, then, is the authorized representative of the Lord. While the world may not recognize him, the important requirement is that God speaks through him. A prophet is a teacher. He receives revelations from the Lord. These may be new truths or explanations of truths already received."
I thought it would be awesome to build a watch tower and put a prophet on top. I love the scripture that says, "build a tower, that one may overlook the land round about, to be a watchman upon the tower, that mine olive trees may not be broken down when the enemy shall come to spoil and take upon themselves the fruit of my vineyard." You can watch this video about "Watchmen on the Tower." Today's activity is a "Color-My-Tower" page. There are different words on the tower in the picture. As you read about President Monson here and here have your children listen for these words. When they hear you say each word, they can color in that wood piece. Once they finish listening and coloring all the pieces of the tower, then they can color the prophet.
I also included two pages to write a letter to an elderly person near you that could use a sweet note from a child in celebration of the love President Monson always had for the widows.
I know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet and that he speaks the will of the Lord as he helps us learn about how we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. I invite all to listen today to the voice of a living prophet.
